Laser resurfacing is largely a painless process. However, the affected individuals usually experience some post-procedural swelling and bruising that can continue for up to ten days. Those undergoing this form of treatment are advised to wait until this stage passes before they apply make-up.

Currently the federal government has no restrictions on those performing this form of treatment. The manufacturers of the products used are the only ones regulated.
